Business document translation has a specific register problem: too casual and the document loses authority; too formal and it sounds like no one at the company actually talks that way. Business language in German, French, Japanese, and Spanish each has its own formality conventions, and getting them wrong produces documents that feel off to native-speaking stakeholders even when the content is technically accurate.

We translate business documents by matching the register of the source document to the appropriate register conventions in the target language and business context. A US-style direct executive memo does not translate register-for-register into a document for Japanese executives -- the structure and hedging conventions are different. We make those adjustments visible in the delivered file rather than hiding them.
